Another Country With Ricky Ross returns

Ricky Ross returns with a brand new series for Radio Scotland, entering the landscape of Americana and Alternative Country.

Playing both classic and future classics, Ricky takes a close look at the stories behind the songs and the names who have recorded them. Featuring interviews and sessions with classic and emerging artists including Tift Merritt, Justin Townes Earle, Rodney Crowell, and Mary Gauthier. The series runs for 8 weeks from 10th February 2009.

Listen to BBC Radio Scotland, Tuesday's between 2005-2200.

ImageRicky Ross will be back on Radio Scotland on 19th January at 11.30am presenting a special one-off program called "In the Footsteps of Joan Eardley".

Country fans will also be pleased to know that "Another Country" with Ricky Ross will be back on 10th February from 8pm on Radio Scotland for a 9 week run.

ImageRicky Ross will be presenting a documentary on Radio 4 all about the life and work of famous Glasgow photographer, Oscar Marzaroli. The show which is aired at 11.30am on Thursday 18th December, celebrates the life of The Man Who captured Glasgow, and features interviews with people who new him.

Deacon Blue fans will be familiar with Marzaoli's work as he was the man responsible for the covers of Raintown, Walking Back home and other Deacon Blue Singles. Although it's been 20 years since his death, Oscar Marzaroli's legacy lives on through his images which are recoginesd world-wide. Deacon Blue contributed the track 'Christmas and Glasgow' to the 1991 Oscar Marzaroli tribute album, 'The Tree and the Bird and the Fish and the Bell'.

Exclusive – new Ricky Ross track for download coming soon!

From December 1st we will have a brand new Ricky Ross track available for download exclusively on this site. The track is called 'Don’t Give Up on Ordinary Days' and was recorded for Pale Rider and produced by David Scott.

There will be no set price to download the Track, however, Ricky and Lorraine have asked that you decide how much you would like to donate for the track with proceeds going to the Andrea Kearney fund. Following Andrea’s death earlier this year, this fund has been set up to support woman like Andrea that have been diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy.

Ricky and Lorraine took part in a benefit night ‘ A Life remembered’ for the fund in Glasgow last Sunday – 9th November - along with actor and broadcaster Johnny Beattie, singer songwriter Lou Hickey.
