Deacon Blue To Announce New Line-up

Wednesday, 28 May 2008

Deacon Blue have announced that bass player Ged Grimes and guitarist Gregor Philp will join the band for their forthcoming UK shows including a series of summer dates and a tour with Simple Minds later in the year.  Ged Grimes and Gregor Philp will be replacing Scott Fraser and Taj Wyzgowski respectively and a video of Ged & Gregor at work during recent band rehearsals is now available to view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25dnwtndq3g

As one of the founding members of Dundee pop band “Danny Wilson”, Ged enjoyed major global success with the group and hit records such as “Mary’s Prayer” made a lasting impression on fans of timeless, crafted pop music.  He has recorded and performed with many leading artistes worldwide including Grammy Award Winner Natalie Imbruglia and Brit Award Winner, Eddi Reader. Ged launched his music production company Jack’s Hoose Music in 1997. His music has featured in many top selling Playstation and Xbox games such as “Enter The Matrix”, “Amplitude” and “Earthworm Jim” and in feature film trailers such as ‘The Bourne Supremacy”.

Half-man, half-guitar, Gregor Philp was born under the little-known star sign of Rickenbacker.  Born too late for Vaudeville, he joined the artfully named Swiss Family Orbison with Kit Clark (Danny Wilson) and Dougie Vipond (Deacon Blue), which had John Peel among its many admirers.  Multi-instrumentalist Gregor is also one of the country's most respected TV and film composers; his versatility shown by work as diverse as Balamory (BBC) and film work such as Young Adam, where he worked with David Byrne.

Interesting ... I'll be sorry to see Taj & Scott leave but people move on and these two new guys seem to be very competent musicians. Good luck guys and roll on Liverpool ...
