Hardeep singhs the blues…

Tuesday, 23 October 2007

Writer, funnyman and some-time chef, Hardeep Singh Kohli reminisces about the day he saw Ricky & co perform live at echo records in Byres Road for the launch of ‘Riches’ in his latest Scotland on Sunday column.

But the Blue Nile eventually won his vote when he was asked by a radio show to pick a significant song from his life. Of course, the song he picked was another great Glasgow anthem – ‘Tinsel Town in the Rain’

As he ponders the question, Hardeep explores the alleys and avenues of Glasgow’s wide and varied musical culture. Aztec camera, Simple Minds, and the Pearlfishers all get a mention too.

Meanwhile Glasgow greats Texas top the latest most hated jock-rock list according to this article on Scotsman.com. But before we all rush to raise a snigger, Deacon Blue have also been named and shamed on the list compiled by jocknroll.co.uk. So don’t hold back – get on the website and let your voice be heard!
