Laura Critchley on Deacon Blue support slot
(7 votes)
Friday, 02 November 2007

We are pleased to announced the support for the Manchester, Birmingham, Oxford and London shows will be Laura Critchley. Here is a little about here:

LAURA CRITCHLEY

"Keep an ear out for her. Laura Critchley, excellent record" - Terry Wogan BBC Radio 2

"An upbeat album full of well written, radio friendly songs… In a world of manufactured, synthetic vocals, it’s very refreshing to hear a quality singer, singing great acoustic songs" Acoustic Magazine

"Watch Out… for singer Laura Critchley" Rav Singh, News of the World

"A sweet husky voice" Daily Star

"The current golden girl of terry Wogan’s radio 2 breakfast show…"

"Shimmering debut from Merseyside’s country-tinged folk-pop princess." – Subba-cultcha.com

Laura Critchley - The ‘X’ceptional talent X Factor forgot

"It’s not your voice, your age or the song" said the first round X Factor judges after singer Laura Critchley pressed them for an answer… "It’s just that we’ve already put through a lot of blonde females today"…

These words may have broken the spirit of many young X Factor hopefuls but for Laura Critchley this was the turning point in her singing career. After queuing for 12 hours for her audition only to be dismissed because of the colour of her hair she decided to take matters into her own hands. She got on to the music circuit and played live for anyone and everyone who would listen.

One year later her musical CV speaks for itself. She has recorded 3 songs with Robbie Williams, toured the UK with the Sugababes, featured on the front cover of the Observer Music Monthly, stood in for Will Young at the latest Woman’s Aid Concert, had her single added to the Radio 2 play list, scored a role in a Hollywood movie with John Cusack and Naomi Watts as well as winning the support of Neil Fox, Mika, Gordon Ramsey, The Duchess of York and Jamie Foxx on the way… and she’s just getting started.

But the last year hasn’t been without its setbacks and heartache either. Laura’s talent still lay undiscovered after auditions for Fame Academy and Pop Idol – even handing her demo tape to Louis Walsh himself and singing for Ant and Dec at the X Factor auditions didn’t get her where she is today.

"I guess, all good things come to those want them enough. I want to show everyone with a musical dream that there is a life outside of reality television shows"

…said Laura whose debut single ‘What Do We Do’ entered the Amazon pre release charts at number 7 last week.

Laura releases her much anticipated new single ‘What Do We Do’ on 12th November and her debut album ‘Sometimes I’ on 19th November.
