Hi

Our Town and Singles are both just collections of the bands greatest hits. I personally would go for Our Town as I feel the "extra tracks" ie the non single tracks that record companies throw in to get the old fans to buy the record, are stronger on Our Town than Singles.

The best of, is a more complete collection which not only features the bands singles but a few choice album tracks and even b sides.

The latter is great value for money and a great introduction for any fan to the music of Deacon Blue. But if you're just after a casual listen to the big hits then go for Our Town.

I'd say that a lot of the remasters on Singles mean that although the tracks are very similar (down to the running order for Singles and Our Town) I think Singles has the edge... so i would buy Singles new and see ifyou can pick up the other two on ebay for about £3 each...

Our Town includes - Bound To Love (one of DB's most underrated songs imo), Still In The Mood and Will We Be Lovers which are not featured on Singles as those tracks made way for 3 new songs recorded in 2006 - Bigger Than Dynamite, Haunted and The One About Loneliness.

The Very Best of is a 2 CD set although i think it still misses out some of the singles like Closing Time and Hang Your Head which missed out on both single volume hits compilations. On the upside as Neil says you get album tracks Like Circus Lights and Bethlehem's Gate as well as a few choice B-sides and 3 songs from the Homesick era too which are great and missing from the other compilations. (Homesick is also well worth getting hold of and again you can often buy that new on ebay - am sure it has been deleted and is not available in most stores now).
