Play.com has put up a bit more information, including the track listing.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/5479361/Deacon-Blue-Live/Product.html

I'm going to sulk now - no Bethlehem's Gate Sad

There's also talk of an 'accompanying live album' - don't know if that's coming with the DVD, or separately.

And they have a release date of June 9th.

It's a real shame we couldn't have had the complete gig released. There may well be numerous reasons for this (copyright issues etc) but it's disappointing all the same. The 20 min interview is a nice extra but am I being too greedy in expecting a bit more? maybe.

The sleeve is also an interesting one, nice to see Lorraine get centre stage but is that honestly the best design and picture they could come up with? and the DB logo could/should have stayed consistent with that of the Singles album, Bigger Pic DVD and most other promotional material concerning the last two tours.

Those gripes aside I am genuinely appreciative and excited by the DVD and look forward to June 9th.

Ooo a whole 4 songs on the new DVD which weren't part of the Big Picture SECC December 1989 concerts... 19 years ago... hardly representative of the breadth of material covered and appreciated by folks in 2006 and 2007. I soooooo hope we don't have an accompanying Cd which has the exact same tracks as the DVD.

No Homesick, no Bethlehem's Gate, no All Over The World, no Day Jackie Jumped The Jail, no One About Loneliness... i.e. any non hit from 1991 or later that got played in Edinburgh has been chopped in favour of stuff thats already on the Bigger Picture DVD released in 2006 (the only exceptions to this rule are James Joyce Soles and Everytime You Sleep!)

If you'd handed the Edinburgh gig tapes to Radio 2 and asked them to put together a radio broadcast they'd have probably gone with mostly material from 1987-89 and mostly singles too. The track list as given so far doesnt even hint at how inventive the last 2 tours have been and i have to say that its a pity "Walking Back Home" which was picked as a highlight of the tour by a lot of people seems to have missed out on the CD release if the info so far is correct.

Having said that, the band have been playing so well in recent years that lots of people wanted that captured on a DVD or live album and i am sure the performances, recording and production will all be top drawer and an advance on the Big Picture release and that Ricky will take the view that it has been a quality control thing to limit the number of tracks rather than throw on lots of odd or less obvious choices.

This live DVD, and accompanying album (P3MCD018), was recorded during their sell-out 2007 tour of Europe.

Did I miss this or do we count the UK and Ireland as Europe?  Roll Eyes

Hmm, that's called 'marketing'

I know us rabid fans would rather have an album/DVD full of obscure tracks, but if P3 actually wants to sell some copies to people on the high street, they do need to include all the big hits, and I think they've done a great job.

As for a CD as well as a DVD - it will come in handy for the car.

James have just finished a sold out tour on the back of a brand new album and have an arena tour following in December and have had sessions on Radio 2, a one hour edited concert broadcast from Edinburgh Corn Exchange on Billy Sloan's Clyde 1 show and an appearance on Jools Holland tonight because they are recording new stuff and mixing that with a few oldies... on the April tour they didnt play their biggest hit Sit Down at all and hardly played any songs recorded before 1991... didn't stop them selling out a tour or getting to No.10 with their new album which has sold better in a few weeks than last year's repackaging on their biggest hits 'Fresh As A Daisy'.

Deacon Blue fans (or many of us) will have live versions of most of these songs on the accompanying CD from CD single releases over the years and very similar versions on the concertlive cds... would have been great if the band had recorded some of the shows concertlive didnt record and featured material from the 2007 tour which concertlive hadnt already put out... i am guessing with more time to mix the songs the official live album will manage to sound even better than the concertlive discs and the old cd singles and radio broadcasts gigs that have been booted but by restricting the choice of songs included so narrowly to the 1988-90 era the band haven't made much of a case for themselves as a band who have progressed since their commercial heyday and written great new material (which they have done consistently from 1991 onwards until the new Singles tracks) or that their live shows have moved on and got better since the Big Picture gigs in 1989.

Positive suggestion so my 2 posts on this don't just read as a moan when i have no doubt the gig, DVD and CD will sound great - when not put out a limited edition collectors version of the CD to help boost initial sales where it does have some of the stuff like Homesick, Walking Back Home, Bethlehem's Gate etc?

I'll finish by saying good luck to the band with the DVD and CD... I'll still be buying both as soon as they come out

'Bonus' hopefully meaning Bethlehem's Gate and some of the recent tracks will make it on. I'd also like to see some archive, Big Day, Halfway to Paradise, etc.

Great news it's coming out, but agree on initial surprise at playlist. Thought Beth Gate would make it on. Glad Your Town and ETYS did though.

the mention of the dvd bonus tracks does change things! here's hoping a few album tracks and a few recent tracks feature there alongside the interview and soundcheck footage

Dougie, I agree that would be nice but the only extra track mentioned on the play.com listing is Homesick. Would be nice if we could get the complete listing from this site, would it not?!
